“How can a young man keep his way pure? By keeping your word.” Psalm 119:9 CSB

Once we completely learn to love, and that it is one of the fruits of the Spirit; it abides within the reborn spirit of every believer. We now walk in a new nature that we have in Christ. Why do some believers behave badly? I believe it’s because they have not cultivated their new nature.

2 Corinthians 5:17 declares to us “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, and see, the new has come!”

Some believers in Christ are still yielding to the old habits that they developed in years past. They have yet learned to resist the tricks of the enemy and are still given to the devil’s devices. Their fleshly nature obstructs their new nature and keeps them doing what their old fleshly body wants instead of what the new creature in Christ wants to do. So how does one begin to cleanse themself from those old habits? Reading and meditating on the Word of God and communicating (prayer) daily with the Father!

Ephesians 5:25-26 tells us we’re cleansed and sanctified: “…Christ loved the church and gave himself for her to make her holy, cleansing her with the washing of water by the word.” We all must immerse ourselves in the Word of God daily so that we may continually cleanse ourselves.

To get rid of old habits, selfish thoughts and actions that stops God’s love from freely flowing through us, we need to spend time meditating on the Word of God. Romans 10:17 declares to us “So faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the message about Christ.” Therefore, let us all apply the Word of God in complete faith so that it can cleanse us. God and His Word (Christ) will set us free from the old habits of the old nature; “So if the Son sets you free, you really will be free.” John 8:6

Prayer
Heavenly Father, break me and mold me by the power of Your Word; remove old habits from me and implant in me the nature of of Christ. In Jesus Name. Amen.
